Story

Opening in 2006, Liv’s Oyster Bar quickly became a dining destination in Old Saybrook. Inspired by his daughter, Olivia, and years of experience in the restaurant industry, owner John Brescio set out with a desire to welcome the community to his family’s table. Dining at Liv’s, whether in the main room, at the bar, or on the patio, is an experience to be savored with friends and family long after summer on the shoreline has past.

John Brescio also serves as Liv’s Executive Chef, creating simple, focused dishes with an emphasis on local ingredients, and the stunning seafood that the area provides. The menu at Liv’s changes with the seasons, bringing guests a true taste of the pristine environment. John works closely with Liv’s partners to make sure only the best produce is used, as he would serve nothing less to his family.

Chef

  • John Brescio serves as both owner and Executive Chef of Liv’s Oyster Bar. He draws upon his training at the French Culinary Institute and experience garnered at such renowned restaurants as Tavern on the Green and Judson Grill in New York City, and Aux Delices in Greenwich, CT.

Old Saybrook

Old Saybrook is nestled comfortably between Boston and New York for a quick getaway to indulge in some of Connecticut’s finest shores, vistas and marinas. Old Saybrook is one of the oldest towns in the state, with a Main Street that offers a vibrant collection of shops and restaurants.

Amidst all of its charm and history lies a little community that also knows how to have fun. Every summer, Old Saybrook holds an arts & craft show, Taste-of-Saybrook Fest, boat shows, a Summer Pops Concert, sidewalk sales, fireworks, and once a week you can stroll down to the Town Green for an early evening outdoor concert. During the holidays, Main Street holds the annual Torchlight Muster and Carol Sing, which truly is a sight to see. A great attraction to Main Street is the Kathryn Hepburn Theater presents work in several genres including music, theater, opera, dance, comedy, film, and a variety of children’s programming.
